“Dettori files appeal against 9-day ban”

The Unpredictable Frankie Dettori Appeals Against Suspension

Frankie Dettori, the renowned jockey who has won numerous races across the globe and is a household name in horse racing, has lodged an appeal against his recent suspension. The incident occurred on the first day of Royal Ascot, where he was found guilty of careless riding.

Dettori rode Saga for John and Thady Gosden in the Wolferton Stakes at Royal Ascot which resulted in him being suspended for nine days starting from July 4th to July 12th. This means that he will miss out on riding Emily Upjohn in the upcoming Eclipse race scheduled for July 8.

The talented rider believes there are grounds to appeal against the decision made by stewards at Royal Ascot and hence filed an official complaint with his lawyers yesterday. “I put my appeal in yesterday, so it’s fingers crossed,” said Dettori while speaking to talkSPORT.

In spite of this setback, Dettori went on to win Wednesday’s Queen’s Vase on Gregory before claiming a ninth Gold Cup aboard Courage Mon Ami much to the delight of spectators present at Royal Ascot on Thursday.

Due to his outstanding performance recently, many have called upon him not to retire yet but he insists that Champions Day at Ascot will be his last day riding professionally in England before shifting abroad. “Every day I get asked about retirement but as of now I am retiring – October 21 (in England) and then abroad.”

It remains uncertain whether or not his appeal will lead to any further action or if it would change anything related to his suspension period.
