Dexter reunites with Grayhound in Australian CS:GO return, replaces departing New Zealand player Sico

Christopher “Dexter” Nong Returns to Grayhound Gaming

Australian Counter-Strike player Christopher “Dexter” Nong is set to make a triumphant return to Grayhound Gaming in the new year, putting an end to his two-year stint abroad in Europe. The 29-year-old recently announced his comeback after departing from Fnatic, ending months of speculation about his future.

Nong’s decision comes shortly after Grayhound bid farewell to long-time member Simon “Sico” Williams, who had been with the organization for nearly five years. Sico expressed his commitment to continue competing but also revealed he would welcome a switch back to the AWP position following changes within the team lineup. He acknowledged that sacrifices were made when Dexter initially left and they had to adapt accordingly.

Dexter’s return marks a reunion with the squad he previously played for under the Renegades banner in 2021 before venturing overseas. During his time in Europe, he joined MOUZ and led them through three Major appearances, including their memorable run at IEM Rio Major quarterfinals in 2022.

However, Dexter’s journey with MOUZ came to an end with a disappointing early exit at the BLAST Paris Major. In July of that same year, he joined historic organization Fnatic but only stayed as their leader for three months before finding himself without a team once again by November.

In contrast, Grayhound has faced challenges throughout 2023. While dominating domestically, they struggled internationally and failed to make significant breakthroughs in any of their seven international tournaments this year. Their best performance came in March at ESL Pro League Season 17, but they were unable to progress to the playoff stage.

The off-season presents a chance for Grayhound to regroup and prepare for upcoming competitions. They will be competing at IEM Katowice before focusing on qualifying for CS2’s first Major event in Copenhagen.
