Dominant performance by Fallen Angel in Moyglare Stud Stakes

Fallen Angel Triumphs in Impressive Fashion at the Curragh

In a thrilling display of strength and determination, Fallen Angel emerged as the victor in the Moyglare Stud Stakes at the prestigious Curragh racecourse. The race proved to be a turning point for Aidan O’Brien’s Ylang Ylang, who disappointingly surrendered her unbeaten record.

Ylang Ylang had entered the race as the hot favourite for next year’s Classics after showcasing her talent with two remarkable performances. With high expectations resting on her shoulders, she was sent off as the 6-5 market leader, aiming to secure yet another triumph for Ballydoyle’s renowned trainer.

However, it was not meant to be for Ylang Ylang as jockey Ryan Moore took control of proceedings aboard Fallen Angel. Moore skillfully positioned his mount at the front alongside Danny Tudhope on 9-2 hopeful Vespertilio. The two horses matched strides until Ylang Ylang began to falter approaching the final furlong.

Although Ylang Ylang quickly fell behind in the field, there was no shortage of excitement during this fiercely contested race. Willie McCreary’s Vespertilio soon surged forward alongside Fallen Angel, engaging in an enthralling battle towards victory.

Karl Burke’s filly showcased incredible resilience when it mattered most, pulling ahead during crucial moments and securing both North Yorkshire trainer Karl Burke and owners Clipper Logistics their second win of the Irish Champions Festival. This success came shortly after Flight Plan claimed victory in Dullingham Park Stakes at Leopardstown on Saturday.

The emotional journey did not stop there; owner-breeder Steve Parkin expressed his joy over Fallen Angel’s triumph: “We bred her but lost her mother due to colic. She is the last foal out of her mother and resembles her in every way. The word ’emotional’ doesn’t do justice to how we feel right now. My daughter names all our horses, and after the dam’s passing, that’s why she’s called Fallen Angel. Winning the prestigious Group One Moyglare Stakes is simply unbelievable.”

With this remarkable victory under her belt, Fallen Angel has entered the conversation for next year’s 1000 Guineas. Coral currently offers odds of 8-1, while Betfair stands at 7-1 from an initial 25s offering.
