Espargaro: Punishment for tire violation has a more negative impact on MotoGP championship than Morbidelli incident

The Thrilling Battle for the MotoGP Championship

In what promises to be a nail-biting finale at the Valencia Grand Prix, Francesco Bagnaia and Jorge Martin are set to go head-to-head in their quest for the coveted 2023 MotoGP championship title.

With just a mere gap of 14 points following Martin’s impressive sprint victory on Saturday, Bagnaia is now under immense pressure to secure at least fifth place in order to clinch his second crown.

However, this electrifying race has already seen its fair share of surprises as tyre pressure penalties made their debut during the sprint. Morbidelli and Luca Marini were both handed three-second penalties after violating the minimum front pressure rule for a second time this season.

To make matters even more intense, both Martin and Bagnaia have previously received official warnings regarding tyre pressure regulations earlier in the season. Any infraction during the grand prix would result in an additional three-second penalty being added to their final timings.
