Ferrari Racing Team Not Meeting Expectations, According to Principal Frederic Vasseur

    Has Ferrari’s Target Eluded Them?

In the ongoing Formula One championship, Scuderia Ferrari’s results have been far off their target. The team’s principal Frederic Vasseur has expressed his disappointment regarding their performance so far this season.

The Italian team had set sights on clinching the world title and outperforming their previous year’s run, when they finished as Red Bull Racing’s closest challenger. However, despite showing competitiveness during qualifying rounds, the Maranello-based franchise has managed to secure only one podium finish this season.

Vasseur communicated that he hopes for a drastic improvement following an upgrade that is expected to be introduced at Spain’s Circuit de Catalunya in Barcelona where practice sessions are scheduled from June 3rd onwards. Further car developments will also follow over “the next two or three races,” said Vasseur.

    A Tale of Misfortunes

During Monaco’s Grand Prix last Sunday, Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz finished sixth and eighth respectively after Leclerc fought well for pole position but was handed a penalty for impeding Lando Norris during qualifying due to Ferrari failing to alert him about incoming traffic on flying laps. This ultimately resulted in him starting P6 instead of P3.

Vasseur commented: “We were P3 in qualifying and less than 0.1 seconds away from securing the front row; it was not a disaster.” He added though some errors were made by them over the weekend, however denying any pace-related issues with Ferrari cars as “a bit harsh.”

Despite competitive qualifying, Ferrari’s drivers failed to showcase their potential during the Grand Prix as they were stuck in a queue of cars behind Alpine’s Esteban Ocon for much of the race. Vasseur acknowledged that Ferrari’s inconsistent and unpredictable car performance has been problematic when it comes to longer stints but ensured fans that the team is already working on resolving this issue.

Ferrari Strives for Better Days Ahead

The Italian Stallions need to come back stronger than ever if they want to make an impact in Formula One’s 2021 season. The management recognizes this fact and assures their supporters that they are putting everything into coming up with new ideas and improving their performance. We can only hope that these upgrades bring forth positive results when racing resumes at Circuit de Catalunya.
