Galatasaray Receives Uefa Penalty for Fan Conduct at Old Trafford during Manchester United Match

UEFA Fines Galatasaray and Criticizes Manchester United for Spectator Misconduct

Galatasaray, the Turkish champions, have been hit with a fine of €51,000 (£44,420) by UEFA due to their supporters’ unruly behavior during their recent Champions League victory at Old Trafford against Manchester United.

A staggering 2,000 Galatasaray fans managed to infiltrate home sections of the stadium. Furthermore, Galatasaray is also required to cover the expenses incurred from damages caused by their fans inside the venue.

The visitor’s official ticket allocation for this match was merely 2,200 tickets. Despite this limited number, European football’s governing body took severe actions against Galatasaray as they engaged in activities such as throwing objects, setting off fireworks, causing damage and disruptions amongst spectators.

Manchester United faced significant criticism for allowing an “unacceptable” number of away supporters to purchase tickets within areas designated for home supporters. The English club has issued an apology to its own fans who admitted feeling unsafe due to overwhelming numbers of visiting supporters occupying sections typically reserved for locals.
