Editeur Du Gite Triumphs in Thrilling Ladbrokes Desert Orchid Handicap Chase

In a display of sheer determination, Editeur Du Gite claimed victory for the second consecutive year in the prestigious Ladbrokes Desert Orchid Handicap Chase at Kempton Park.

Despite carrying the heavy burden of top weight, Editeur du Gite showcased unrivaled resilience and crossed the finish line three lengths ahead of his rivals.

The race witnessed an unfortunate early exit for Malystic, leaving Editeur Du Gite and Elixir De Nutz to set a relentless pace in this thrilling Grade Two contest.

The odds-on favorite, Boothill, aimed to secure a hat-trick of wins but saw his aspirations shattered as he took a fall at the fifth-last fence.

As they entered the home straight, it became evident that Editeur Du Gite’s impeccable jumping skills would prove decisive. Under jockey Niall Houlihan’s expert guidance, he soared over each obstacle with finesse and pulled away from the field.

Elixir De Nutz encountered some late errors which cost him dearly. In a nail-biting finish, Nube Negra managed to snatch second place from Elixir De Nutz during the closing stages of the race.

“The entire team put their heart and soul into preparing for this race over Christmas. Seeing Editeur Du Gite triumph today was truly special – especially considering it was achieved in such a competitive handicap,” shared Moore enthusiastically after securing another remarkable win.

Moore further expressed his belief that Editeur Du Gite’s ability to set the pace and dominate without being pressured played a significant role in their victory. The relentless company provided by Elixir De Nutz pushed Editeur Du Gite to give his best performance.

“Given his preference for sharp tracks like Kempton, he is likely to excel over longer distances. It’s crucial to utilize his strengths, and today’s win showcases just that,” Moore explained.

The next challenge on Editeur Du Gite’s radar is the Game Spirit at Newbury, as it favors left-handed courses.

“Considering his age, we must seize this opportunity. Hence, an entry in the prestigious Champion Chase seems fitting – it might be our final chance,” Moore emphasized while contemplating future plans for the seasoned champion.
