The Golden State Warriors defeated the Los Angeles Lakers 127-100 in a dominant display by the defending champions to level their Western Conference semi-final series at 1-1. Klay Thompson led the scoring for The Warriors with an impressive 30 points, while Stephen Curry added a further 20 points and recorded an astonishing 12 assists.
In contrast, Anthony Davis who was instrumental in Lakers opening match victory was limited to just eleven points as he struggled against The Warrior’s defence on Tuesday night. “We realised we let one go in game one. [When] we keep it simple, the floodgates can open,” said Thompson reflecting on his team’s performance.
Despite leveling up the series with this win, Thompson remains focussed heading into Saturday’s clash at LA’s Staples Centre: “I don’t think it sends much of a message. It’s 1-1 at the end of the day. We’ve got to go to LA and get one and go from there.”
The Lakers’ star LeBron James top-scored for his side after registering twenty-three points; however, he sat out for almost all of final quarter along with Davis when defeat looked inevitable owing to their opponent’s incredible form.
The Dubs amassed a thirty-point lead before either player left court as they enjoyed an explosive run beginning during second-quarter play that saw them score forty-one points followed by another forty-three in third-quarter action.
