Goncalo Ramos joins Paris St-Germain on loan from Benfica, strengthening their striker options

Paris St-Germain Secure Services of Portuguese Striker Goncalo Ramos on Season-Long Loan

In a surprising move, Paris St-Germain (PSG) has successfully secured the services of talented Portugal striker Goncalo Ramos from Benfica for the upcoming season. The highly sought-after 22-year-old showcased his potential with an impressive hat-trick during last year’s World Cup in Qatar, capturing the attention of numerous top European clubs.

Ramos exhibited his goal-scoring prowess throughout the previous campaign, netting an astonishing total of 27 goals in just 47 appearances for Benfica in the season that recently concluded.

The acquisition of Ramos comes amidst recent reports suggesting Neymar’s desire to leave PSG. L’Equipe even mentioned that Neymar had conveyed this intention to PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi. Meanwhile, Kylian Mbappe, who is currently embroiled in a contract dispute, seems keen on joining Real Madrid as he refuses to extend his contract beyond next summer.

Mbappe’s standoff with PSG has led him to be absent from first-team training sessions as they gear up for their opening match in Ligue 1 scheduled for Saturday.

Ramos represents PSG’s ninth major signing during this window following an extensive recruitment drive by the club. Similar to Mbappe’s arrival at PSG from Monaco back in 2017, Ramos joins initially on a loan deal but with an option for PSG to make it permanent at the end of the loan period.

PSG’s summer signings also include goalkeeper Arnau Tenas, defenders Milan Skriniar and Lucas Hernandez, midfielders Marco Asensio, Manuel Ugarte, Lee Kang-in, and Xavi Simons, as well as forward Hugo Ekitike.
