Gosden pleased to kickstart his Breeders’ Cup pair

John Gosden Delighted as Inspiral and Mostahdaf Hit the Santa Anita Track

In an exhilarating turn of events, renowned trainer John Gosden expressed his satisfaction at finally getting Inspiral and Mostahdaf out on to the Santa Anita track on Tuesday. Representing Gosden and his son Thady, these two magnificent turf horses will be competing in the Filly & Mare Turf and the 12-furlong Turf races respectively.

Inspiral has been making waves with her remarkable back-to-back victories in Group One company, proving herself as one of Europe’s finest turf horses. On the other hand, Mostahdaf faced a change of plan due to unfavorable ground conditions during Ascot’s Champions Day.

Undoubtedly, Prince of Wales’s Stakes and Juddmonte International witnessed two exceptional performances by Mostahdaf this season. These displays undoubtedly established him as one of the standout equine athletes.

Gosden shared his thoughts on their training progress: “The horses have been confined indoors without any exposure to natural light since they arrived. It was evident that both Inspiral and Mostahdaf were thrilled to finally step foot on the track.”

The esteemed trainer also shed light on Mostahdaf’s future prospects, stating: “Mostahdaf thoroughly enjoyed his time out trotting alongside his pony; he found it immensely enjoyable. With such a strong pedigree as a son of Frankel, he is poised for success when he becomes a stallion next year.”

“Frankie learned so much from American jockeys during his time here in the 1980s winters. He had an insatiable hunger for knowledge,” said Gosden about Frankie Dettori. “I believe Frankie is taking all the right steps forward. While riding here four days a week, he will definitely ride for me again. In fact, I’m preparing Lord North for Dubai, where we have previously achieved three victories in the Dubai Turf. Why not aim for a fourth?”

As Mostahdaf’s retainer is with Shadwell owners, Jim Crowley will be back in the saddle to guide him during the upcoming races. However, Frankie Dettori played a crucial role as his replacement at York while Crowley was serving a racing ban. For Inspiral’s race, Dettori gets to showcase his exceptional riding skills once again.

The Italian maestro recently surprised everyone by announcing that his career would extend beyond initial expectations. Gosden fully supports this decision and even hinted at the possibility of their partnership extending to the prestigious Dubai Carnival.
