    Graham Lee Hospitalized After Newcastle Fall

    Renowned jockey Graham Lee finds himself in intensive care following a neck injury sustained during a fall at Newcastle Racecourse on Friday. The incident occurred as the stalls opened for the BetUK. Home Of The Acca-Fenwa Handicap, resulting in Lee being unseated from his mount Ben Macdui.

    The Injured Jockeys Fund released a statement revealing the seriousness of Lee’s condition: “Graham was quickly transported to the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle where he is currently receiving intensive care due to a neck injury. Further tests will be conducted today to assess the extent of the damage.”

    A seasoned professional, Graham Lee has left an indelible mark on both flat and jumps racing throughout his illustrious career. Some notable achievements include winning the Grand National aboard Amberleigh House under legendary trainer Ginger McCain in 2004 and claiming victory with staying hurdler Inglis Drever at the Cheltenham Festival’s World Hurdle in 2005.

    In recent years, Lee transitioned to flat racing and achieved success there as well. Notably, he secured Group One victories with Trip To Paris in Royal Ascot’s Gold Cup in 2015 and Alpha Delphini at Nunthorpe Stakes in 2018. His exceptional skills led him to ride an impressive total of 159 winners during his best season on the flat back in 2014.
