    Great Britain’s women basketball team has made it through to the knockout stages of the Women’s EuroBasket. Despite a tight loss of 63-57 against second-ranked France, GB secured their spot with Germany as Slovenia lost their game.

    A Scare Against France

    GB captain Temi Fagbenle led her team on the court by scoring an impressive total of 20 points and grabbing eight rebounds during the match against France. The British side even managed to tie with Europe’s second-best team at one point, reducing a nine-point deficit back down to six in the final quarter.

    Although it wasn’t enough for GB to take home a win, they showed great tenacity and skill throughout their performance. With only one more group game against Germany left before moving onto the next round, fans are eagerly awaiting what will come next from this talented squad.

    Knockout Stages Determined by Points System

    The top two teams from each group qualify directly for quarter-finals while third-placed teams move onto knockout stages where they battle other groups’ third-placed teams for further advancement opportunities.

    In this year’s tournament taking place between June15th -25th across Slovenia and Israel there are four groups consisting of sixteen competing teams all vying for places in International Basketball Federation (Fiba) Olympic qualifying tournaments. France have already qualified as hosts for Olympics set to take place in Paris,2024.
