Harvey Biljon: Former Jersey Reds manager patiently awaits the perfect chance for his comeback

Former Jersey Reds Director of Rugby Awaits Right Opportunity

In a surprising turn of events, former Jersey Reds director of rugby Harvey Biljon has revealed that he is patiently waiting for the perfect opportunity to return to a full-time role in the world of rugby union. Despite his recent success guiding the island side to clinch the Championship title last season, unfortunate circumstances led to the club ceasing trading and entering liquidation. However, Biljon remains positive about his future prospects.

Biljon currently serves as a consultant at fourth-tier Rotherham Titans following Jersey’s collapse. When asked about his plans, he stated confidently, “For me it’s a ‘watch this space’. I’m waiting for that right opportunity to present itself and when it does, hopefully I can really sink my teeth into it and replicate the success we achieved with Jersey Reds.”

The majority of players from Jersey’s squad have already secured contracts with new clubs, including several signings by Premiership and United Rugby Championship teams. This comes as no surprise to Biljon who proudly states that every player he brought to Jersey was capable of performing at top-level rugby. Although they were unable to showcase their talents with Jersey Reds due to unforeseen circumstances, Biljon wishes them nothing but success both on and off the field.

Biljon recently accepted an Outstanding Achievement award on behalf of the team during the prestigious Jersey Sport Awards ceremony in recognition of their title victory earlier this year. The win marked history for both Biljon and jersey Reds as they claimed their first-ever second-tier title. Unfortunately, their attempt at securing a double victory fell short when they lost against Ealing in the Championship Cup final just one week later.

Reflecting on receiving such an esteemed accolade amidst challenging times for his former club, Biljon expressed, “To be acknowledged for transforming a team on the brink of relegation into one that could have competed in the Premiership is truly heartwarming. Jersey Reds have made the island proud throughout these years, and despite their current situation, it’s fantastic to know that our legacy will endure.”

As Biljon awaits his next venture in rugby union, enthusiasts eagerly anticipate where his expertise and dedication will lead him. One thing is certain – when an opportunity arises, Biljon’s unwavering commitment to success will undoubtedly be put to good use.
