Israel-Premier Tech excludes four-time Tour de France winner Chris Froome from team selection

Chris Froome Left Out of Israel-Premier Tech’s Tour de France Squad

The cycling world was shocked to learn that Britain’s four-time Tour de France champion, Chris Froome, has been left out of Israel-Premier Tech’s eight-man squad for next month’s race. This decision comes after a series of mechanical issues in the build-up to the Tour and an absence from last year’s race due to Covid.

    Equipment Issues Hamper Performance

Froome expressed his disappointment at not being able to showcase his full ability due to equipment issues. Despite being physically ready for the event, these setbacks have dampened his performance and resulted in this unexpected turn of events.

Aiming for Full Fitness After 2019 Crash

Froome joined Israel-Premier Tech in 2021 with the goal of regaining full fitness following a severe crash in 2019 that led him to sustain multiple injuries. However, he has struggled to regain form since leaving Team Sky which is evident by the lacklustre results he has recorded so far this season.

    Tough Decision on Selection Process

Kjell Carlstrom, general manager of Israel-Premier Tech said it was a tough decision selecting their team given they had several riders best suited for fulfilling their performance objectives but ultimately settled on Guillaume Boivin, Simon Clarke, Hugo Houle, Krists Neilands, Nick Schultz Corbin Strong Dylan Teuns and Michael Woods as their representatives.

    Bouncing Back in 2024

While Froome respects the decision of the team, he intends to focus on his objectives later in the season and make a return to Tour de France in 2024. This comes as a surprise to many fans who were hoping for an exciting performance from him this year.

    The Verdict

It is clear that despite being one of the most decorated cyclists of all time, Chris Froome still has some work to do before returning to top form. The cycling world eagerly anticipates his comeback, but it seems we will have to wait until next year’s Tour de France for that.
