Leicestershire add Pakistani pacer Naseem Shah to their T20 Blast squad
Leicestershire Signs Pakistan’s Naseem Shah for T20 Blast Campaign
In an exciting turn of events, Leicestershire has signed the young and talented Pakistani fast bowler, Naseem Shah. He will be joining the team as cover for pace bowler Naveen-ul-Haq who is expected to stay with Lucknow Super Giants for Indian Premier League playoffs.
The 20-year-old rising star was a crucial part of Pakistan’s T20 World Cup campaign last year where they finished as runners-up to England. His impressive performance in international cricket since his debut in 2019 makes him an asset to any team he joins. In just fifteen Test appearances, he claimed forty-two wickets, while taking fifteen scalps in nineteen T20 games and twenty-three one-day wickets in eight matches.
Having Naveen in the IPL play-offs meant we had to make a quick call and we are extremely excited to have secured someone of Naseem’s caliber,” said Claude Henderson, director of cricket at Leicestershire.
Naseem is considered a world-class performer by Henderson and his inclusion further strengthens Leicestershire’s bowling attack ahead of their first match against Lancashire Lightning on Thursday at Old Trafford Stadium.
