Lionel Messi guides Inter Miami to victory in Leagues Cup clash with Nashville SC

Inter Miami Wins Leagues Cup with Messi’s Brilliance

Lionel Messi once again proved why he is hailed as the “best in the world” after scoring his 10th goal in just seven games, leading Inter Miami to their first-ever trophy. The 36-year-old Argentine maestro unleashed a sensational strike from outside the box, finding the top corner and giving Miami the lead against Nashville SC in the highly-anticipated Leagues Cup final.

The game took an exciting turn when Fafa Picault equalized for Nashville in the second half, sending it into penalties. In a nail-biting shootout that ended with a score of 10-9, Inter Miami emerged victorious as goalkeeper Drake Callender saved Elliot Panicco’s spot-kick.

This triumph marks a remarkable turnaround for Inter Miami, who had struggled throughout this season. However, everything changed when Messi joined last month alongside fellow former Barcelona stars Jordi Alba and Sergio Busquets. The team has been unbeatable ever since and clinched victory in the competitive tournament that features both Major League Soccer (MLS) and Mexican Liga MX clubs.

Established only last year in 2020, Inter Miami celebrates its maiden silverware by winning the Leagues Cup title. Their success does not end here though; they continue their quest for glory as they face Cincinnati in the semi-finals of the US Open Cup on Wednesday.

Influential co-owner David Beckham acknowledges that Lionel Messi and his ex-Barcelona teammates have played an instrumental role: “Watching these players perform feels like watching a movie – emotionally captivating through every touch.” Echoing Beckham’s sentiments, Spanish midfielder Sergio Busquets expressed his joy, stating, “Our team is rapidly progressing and we couldn’t be happier. We are building a strong unit, and having Messi on our side only amplifies the difference he makes as the best player in the world.”

Apart from securing another title for his club, Lionel Messi also achieved a personal milestone by becoming the player with the most trophies in history. The seven-time Ballon d’Or winner now boasts an incredible tally of 44 major honors.
