Little Big Bear announces participation in July Cup

Shaquille and Little Big Bear Set for Epic Rematch in July Cup

This Saturday, fans at Newmarket are eagerly anticipating the highly-anticipated rematch between Shaquille and Little Big Bear in the Pertemps Network July Cup. Trained by Julie Camacho and Aidan O’Brien respectively, these two talented horses delivered a thrilling performance in the Commonwealth Cup at Royal Ascot.

In their previous encounter, Shaquille emerged victorious with a narrow one-and-a-quarter length lead over Little Big Bear. However, doubts arose about Little Big Bear’s participation earlier this week due to a bruised foot that kept him away from training for six days. Despite concerns, the Ballydoyle colt has been declared fit to compete in this prestigious Group One race.

Oisin Murphy rode Shaquille to victory at Ascot but is currently suspended. James Doyle, next in line for selection, is committed to riding for Godolphin at Ascot instead. Therefore, Rossa Ryan will be taking the reins on Shaquille this time around.

Other Contenders to Watch Out For

Khaadem will represent trainer Charlie Hills after being supplemented into the race on Monday following his impressive win in the Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Stakes. Michael Dods’ Azure Blue and Ralph Beckett’s Kinross are also among the key contenders who aim to challenge for victory.

The field of nine runners is completed by Art Power, Emaraaty Ana, Run To Freedom and Vadream – each bringing their own unique strengths and ambitions.
