Nashwa and Blue Rose Cen set to face off in highly anticipated Nassau showdown

Nashwa Faces Tough Challenge from Blue Rose Cen in Qatar Nassau Stakes

The highly anticipated Qatar Nassau Stakes at Goodwood on Thursday will see Nashwa defending her crown against the formidable contender, Blue Rose Cen. Last season, John and Thady Gosden’s Nashwa emerged as a stunning winner of the Group One feature race, following her triumph in the French Oaks.

Although Nashwa initially struggled to replicate her outstanding form this season, she made a triumphant return to glory in the Falmouth Stakes at Newmarket’s July meeting when competing over a mile. Hollie Doyle, who has been an integral part of Nashwa’s journey as retained rider for owner Imad Al Sagar, revealed that the Nassau Stakes has always been their primary target.

“We never lost faith in her,” said Doyle. “Even when she faced defeat at Saint-Cloud and Newcastle, we knew there was more to come. As a Group One filly, you don’t like to see them beaten in slightly lesser races.”

Doyle continued by highlighting how each time she rode Nashwa during those early runs this season, she felt that there was room for improvement: “I always believed she would come on again for the run. At Newcastle, I made the running but she never truly relaxed, which is why fatigue set in towards the end.”

Nashwa showcased incredible strength during her victory over a mile in the Falmouth Stakes – an accomplishment that opens up new possibilities for future endeavors according to Doyle. However, it remains clear that securing success in the Nassau Stakes has always been their ultimate goal.

A Clash of Titans: Blue Rose Cen Emerges as Powerful Contender

To secure victory once again and retain her title, Nashwa must bring her Newmarket level of form to the table. However, standing in her way is the remarkable Blue Rose Cen – a potential superstar trained by Christopher Head.

Blue Rose Cen’s impressive victories in the Prix Marcel Boussac last season and subsequently in the French 1000 Guineas and Oaks have solidified her status as an extraordinary force on the racing scene.

    The Challengers

In addition to Blue Rose Cen, Nashwa will also face tough competition from Joseph O’Brien’s Above The Curve, who previously defeated her in the Prix Corrida, and Al Husn, who conquered Nashwa in the Hoppings Stakes at Newcastle.

The six-runner field is completed by Jack Channon’s Caernarfon and Aidan O’Brien’s Never Ending Story.

A Thrilling Lineup for John Pearce Racing Gordon Stakes

In another exciting race at Goodwood on Thursday, William Haggas’ Desert Hero will make his reappearance after his historic victory at Royal Ascot. Desert Hero became a symbol of triumph for both King and Queen during that unforgettable event. Joining him are Artistic Star, Burdett Road, Canberra Legend, Chesspiece and Espionage.

Jasour Aims to Defy Penalty in Markel Richmond Stakes

Clive Cox’s Jasour faces a challenging task as he attempts to follow up his success in the July Stakes while carrying a penalty. Asadna and Hala Emaraaty represent Alice Haynes; Unquestionable represents Ballydoyle; while Martyn and Freddie Meade present Sketch – aiming to build upon an impressive debut win. *Please note: The content provided above has been rewritten with enhanced language usage for entertainment purposes only.*
