NRG completes its Counter-Strike comeback by recruiting three former EG players

NRG Returns to Counter-Strike with a New Lineup

The North American Scene Welcomes NRG’s Revamped Roster

In an unexpected turn of events, NRG has made their way back into the Counter-Strike scene. With a completely rebuilt lineup and some familiar faces, they are ready to conquer the North American region once again.

After weeks of speculation and behind-the-scenes hints, fans of NA CS2 finally have something exciting to cheer for. The organization took to Twitter today to announce the addition of Damian “daps” Steele, Justin “FaNg” Coakley, Vincent “Brehze” Cayonte, Jadan “HexT” Postma, and Josh “oSee” Ohm to their CS2 squad.

    A Reunion in the Making

This signing marks a full-circle moment for three players who previously donned the NRG jersey before moving on to Evil Geniuses in 2019. Now four years later, they find themselves reunited under one banner. Alongside them are other notable members who have been part of top CS rosters in North America such as Complexity and Team Liquid.

Daps’ time away from the CS2 scene was brief but impactful. After being dropped from NA rival Liquid in late November 2024, he now returns as an In-Game Leader (IGL) for NRG. Although it has been over a year since daps was consistently part of a starting five-man lineup – his previous stint concluding with Orgless in April 2022 – his strategic expertise brings valuable experience that cannot be overlooked.

    Rising from the Ashes

Brehze’s performance took a nosedive during his final year at EG, resulting in his eventual benching in June 2023. However, he has been diligently working on regaining his form and momentum as he grinds through CS2’s Premier matchmaking. NRG recognizes his dedication to the game, making him an integral part of their plan to qualify for the Major.

    A Speedy Comeback

Former Team Liquid AWPer oSee didn’t spend much time on the bench either. Shortly after daps’ departure from TL earlier this month, America’s finest sniper found himself seeking new opportunities. Now joining NRG, he brings unmatched precision and skill to their lineup.

    Finding New Grounds

HexT has been tirelessly competing under Evil Geniuses’ banner within North American esports scene. However, with recent setbacks faced by EG organization-wise, HexT became an easy target for any other roster trying to build a strong team. This eventually led him to settle into NRG’s ranks where he hopes to thrive alongside his teammates.

    The Road Ahead for NRG

Only time will tell if NRG can achieve their goal of qualifying for the Majors once again. Nevertheless, they have assembled some of North America’s finest talent who are poised and ready to make their mark in competitive Counter-Strike.
