Paisley Park set for fourth Cleeve Hurdles challenge with green light

Paisley Park Aims for Fourth Win in Cleeve Hurdle

In an extraordinary display of skill and determination, Paisley Park is on track to attempt a historic fourth victory in the McCoy Contractors Cleeve Hurdle at Cheltenham on January 27. This would make him stand alone as the only horse to achieve this incredible feat.

A few legendary horses have come close to this record-breaking achievement, with Big Buck’s winning the race twice and Lady Rebecca securing three consecutive wins from 1999-2001. However, if Emma Lavelle’s Paisley Park emerges victorious, he will etch his name into history as an unparalleled four-time winner.

Although Paisley Park has faced some fierce competition this year, narrowly losing out by a head against Dashel Drasher at Newbury and being pipped by the young contender Crambo in the Long Walk Hurdle, his performances have been nothing short of remarkable. Notably, he has previously triumphed three times in the Long Walk Hurdle over his illustrious career.

Speaking about Paisley Park’s recent form, trainer Emma Lavelle expressed her pride: “He’s great. He’s come out of the race (Long Walk) so well; cantering away. I just can’t believe he’s run two such fantastic races and just got beaten in both of them.” She added that they are hopeful for another strong showing at the upcoming Cleeve Hurdle.

Lavelled continued: “It would be extraordinary if he could secure victory there once again – a fourth win would truly be something special. I’ve always said that he’ll let us know when he’s had enough, but his performances in the first two races this year indicate that he still has plenty left in the tank.”

Regarding Paisley Park’s future, Lavelle expressed openness to extending his racing career: “If he keeps running as well as he is now, I don’t see any reason why we should retire him at the end of the season. We’ll continue with him for as long as he remains happy and competitive.” The 12-year-old horse seems content and eager to keep going.

In conclusion, Paisley Park’s quest for a fourth win in the Cleeve Hurdle is on everyone’s radar. With an impressive track record and undeniable determination, this extraordinary horse continues to captivate audiences and leave his mark on history.
