Rangers secure deal with ex-England shot-stopper Butland following his release from Crystal Palace.

Goalkeeper Jack Butland Joins Rangers on a Four-Year Contract

In an unexpected move, Crystal Palace’s released goalkeeper Jack Butland has signed with Rangers for the next four years. The 30-year-old goalie, who has nine England caps to his name, joined Manchester United on loan from Crystal Palace last season but failed to make any appearances.

The Scottish team was in need of a replacement after releasing veteran Allan McGregor. Manager Michael Beale expressed excitement about the addition of Butland and said he “is coming into the prime years of his career” with “huge experience”. He added that they share strong alignment on football and development moving forward.

A Strong Addition to the Team

Butland brings eight English clubs worth of experience onto the field with him, having played for Stoke City from 2013-2021 making 169 Potters appearances and winning most of his England caps during this time. His most recent senior appearance was back in May when he played against Everton in their defeat by a score of 3-2.

Butland is thrilled about joining Rangers saying that he is overjoyed at being granted “a huge opportunity.” In discussing why he chose Rangers as his new home, Butland stated that regardless of where you are in football, you know all about Rangers Football Club.

    New Additions to come?

This acquisition will be one amongst many others made by Ranger F.C., which includes midfielder Kieran Dowell from Norwich City and right-back Dujon Sterling from Chelsea for next season. With McGregor being let go recently along with McCrorie and McLaughlin all featuring in goal for Rangers last season, it was clear that the team needed a new goalkeeper. Butland has been hired as the third signing for next season and will surely become a strong addition to the team.
