Saffie Osborne’s season comes to an early end due to injury

Saffie Osborne to Miss Rest of the Year Due to Knee Injury

Saffie Osborne, the talented jockey known for her impressive performance throughout 2023, will unfortunately be sidelined for the remainder of this year. She sustained a knee injury in a fall earlier this month and is now focused on making a full recovery.

Osborne’s standout moments this season include riding an impressive total of 70 winners. Notably, she guided Metier to victory at the Chester Cup in May and achieved another triumph aboard Random Harvest in the Group Three Valiant Stakes at Ascot in July under trainer Ed Walker.

The young rider also clinched the top spot in the Racing League for two consecutive years, showcasing her exceptional talent and determination.

Despite tearing ligaments in her knee at the beginning of October, Osborne continued to ride competitively. However, after experiencing ongoing pain, she has decided to take an extended break from racing. This break will allow her ample time to ensure a complete recovery and return stronger than ever early next year.

“Missing any time on horseback is incredibly frustrating,” expressed Osborne. “But my priority is getting my knee back into top shape. I am hopeful that I’ll be able to resume riding by January. I’m truly grateful for all the support from owners and trainers throughout this year, and I cannot wait to be back competing in 2024.”
