Defending Champions Salisbury and Ram Advance to US Open Doubles Third Round

In a thrilling match at the US Open, defending champions Joe Salisbury and Rajeev Ram have successfully secured their place in the third round of the men’s doubles event. The British-American duo showcased their exceptional skills as they triumphed over Japanese pair Ben McLachlan and Yoshihito Nishioka with a score of 6-3, 7-6 (7-4).

The match took an intriguing turn midway through the first set when Salisbury and Ram managed to break their opponents’ serve, gaining a crucial advantage. From that point forward, they demonstrated impeccable control on their own serves, leaving McLachlan and Nishioka without any chance for a comeback. Ultimately, it was in the second-set tie-break that Salisbury and Ram sealed their victory.

Their next challenge awaits them against American Mackenzie McDonald and German Andreas Mies – an exciting encounter that will surely test their mettle even further.

Unfortunately, another British hopeful Lloyd Glasspool along with his Finnish partner Harri Heliovaara couldn’t progress beyond this stage. They suffered defeat at the hands of Robert Galloway from America partnered up with Albano Olivetti from France. The final scoreline stood at 7-6 (9-7), 7-6 (7-4) in favor of Galloway-Olivetti tandem.

Nevertheless, there is still much British representation left in the men’s doubles competition. Wimbledon champions Neal Skupski, paired with Dutch partner Wesley Koolhof, and British duo Julian Cash and Henry Patten have already secured their places in round three. It will be fascinating to see how these skilled players perform as the tournament progresses.
