Scotland and Edinburgh in negotiations to join Toulouse: Blair Kinghorn

Edinburgh Coach Nervous About Losing “World Class” Player

The head coach of Edinburgh Rugby, Sean Everitt, has expressed his concern about the potential departure of Blair Kinghorn. The Scotland full-back is currently in talks with Toulouse over a possible move, and Everitt admits it would be challenging to find a suitable replacement for such a “world class” player.

Kinghorn, who can also play as a winger or fly-half, has been an integral part of the Edinburgh team for seven years since making his debut. With 128 points in 50 appearances for Scotland, he is highly sought after by Top 14 champions Toulouse as they look to fill the void left by Melvyn Jaminet’s move to Toulon.

“There’s nothing formal yet,” said Everitt regarding the negotiations. “We’d like to have a final answer soon because it will impact our playing style and depth.”

The coach acknowledges that these discussions might distract Kinghorn during training but believes in his professionalism and commitment to the club. He trusts that Kinghorn’s focus will remain on Friday’s game against Benetton.

If Kinghorn does leave Edinburgh, there are strong options available as replacements. Everitt highlights the presence of talented young players waiting for their chance and Emiliano Boffelli’s return from injury, which would provide an international back three alongside Darcy Graham and Duhan van der Merwe.

“Blair is truly exceptional; he could be one of the best players in his position worldwide,” stated Everitt while acknowledging the difficulty in finding someone with similar qualities. However, he remains optimistic about Edinburgh’s depth at this position thanks to their roster of international back-three players.
