Sophie Ecclestone faces dislocated shoulder setback ahead of Hundred warm-up match

England spinner Sophie Ecclestone dislocates shoulder in Manchester Originals’ warm-up for The Hundred final

In a surprising turn of events, England’s talented spinner Sophie Ecclestone suffered a dislocated shoulder during the warm-up session ahead of Manchester Originals’ highly anticipated final match against Southern Brave in The Hundred.

Ecclestone was assisted off the field at Old Trafford on Wednesday and immediately taken to the hospital for necessary scans. The severity of her injury is yet to be confirmed, leaving fans anxious about her recovery timeline.

The upcoming series against Sri Lanka commences on 31 August; however, it seems that Ecclestone won’t be featuring as she wasn’t included in the squad. Nevertheless, rest was already planned for her after playing every game in the Ashes and captaining Originals throughout The Hundred to effectively manage her workload.

A force to be reckoned with, Ecclestone currently holds the number-one spot among bowlers in one-day internationals and T20s. Her exceptional performance includes an impressive haul of 10 wickets during the Ashes Test followed by another remarkable display across both white-ball series.

During Originals’ campaign in The Hundred, Sophie managed to claim seven vital wickets despite falling short of qualifying for the knockouts. As fans eagerly await her return, it is expected that she will make her comeback during Australia’s Women’s Big Bash League once its draft takes place on 3 September.

In December, England is scheduled to tour India; however, specific dates are yet to be confirmed for this highly-anticipated series.
