Sophie Ecclestone suffers shoulder injury, ruled out of Women’s Big Bash League

England Spinner Sophie Ecclestone to Miss Big Bash League Due to Shoulder Injury

In a disappointing turn of events, England spinner Sophie Ecclestone will be unable to participate in the upcoming Big Bash League in Australia after dislocating her shoulder during warm-up for Manchester Originals’ final match of The Hundred. This unfortunate incident occurred at Old Trafford and required her to be taken to the hospital for further assessment.

The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) released a statement confirming Ecclestone’s unavailability for the Women’s Big Bash League following scans and assessments. Prior to this injury setback, she had already been rested from England’s forthcoming T20 and ODI games against Sri Lanka.

Ecclestone showcased an exceptional performance in the recent Ashes series against Australia, playing every game and emerging as the number-one ranked bowler in one-day and T20 internationals. She secured 10 wickets in the Ashes Test, followed by another 10 wickets across both white-ball series.

Beyond international cricket, Ecclestone also captained Manchester Originals throughout their campaign in The Hundred. Despite contributing with seven wickets, her team unfortunately missed out on qualifying for the knockouts.
