South Africa narrowly defeats Argentina 22-21: Springboks emerge victorious against impressive Pumas with a one-point lead
South Africa Edges Argentina in Rugby Championship
The recent clash between South Africa and Argentina proved to be a thrilling test of World Cup credentials. In an impressive display, the Springboks managed to secure victory over the Pumas, finishing as runners-up in the prestigious Rugby Championship.
The match started with Santiago Carreras putting the Pumas ahead by six points. However, South Africa quickly rallied back with Eben Etzebeth and Damien de Allende scoring tries, giving them a 15-9 lead.
In the second half, Argentina dominated play but struggled to break through South Africa’s defense. It was Marnie Libbok’s breakaway try with just 12 minutes remaining that ultimately made all the difference.
Although Mateo Carreras and Gonzalo Bertranou scored late tries for Argentina, it wasn’t enough to overcome South Africa’s lead. The Springboks held on tightly to secure their win.

Looking ahead, both South Africa and New Zealand will face each other on August 25th in a warm-up game before embarking on their journey towards World Cup glory. Both teams aim to become the first nation to lift this prestigious trophy for an unprecedented fourth time.
