Steven MacLean steps down as St Johnstone manager following a string of unsuccessful matches

St Johnstone Part Ways with Manager Steven MacLean After Another Dismal Result

In a surprising turn of events, St Johnstone Football Club has announced their decision to “part ways” with manager Steven MacLean following yet another disappointing performance. The team suffered a devastating 4-0 defeat at the hands of St Mirren over the weekend, leaving them in last place in the Scottish Premiership without a single victory this season.

This unexpected move comes just months after MacLean, who previously played as a striker for St Johnstone, took over from Callum Davidson in April. Despite initially impressing the board by winning three crucial post-split games during his interim period as manager, it seems that recent results have ultimately led to this unfortunate outcome.

“Some of them should be ashamed of their performances,” expressed MacLean candidly after the latest loss. These strong words reflect not only his disappointment but also highlight the frustration shared by fans and spectators alike.

In addition to parting ways with MacLean, St Johnstone also revealed that Liam Craig will no longer be continuing his role within the club. To address these sudden changes, Alex Cleland will temporarily assume First Team responsibilities until further notice.

The summer saw significant departures from the squad as part of an ongoing rebuilding process initiated by St Johnstone. However, despite efforts to revamp and strengthen their lineup, they remain unable to secure even one victory thus far – an unsurpassed record across Scotland’s top two divisions.

With only one goal scored in nearly two months and their most recent triumph dating back to July’s Viaplay Cup fixture against Alloa Athletic, it is evident that goalscoring prowess has become a major concern for the Perth-based club.
