Stevie Gilmour to Lead Scotland in UAE Tour as Interim Head Coach

Cricket Scotland has announced that Stevie Gilmour will take the reins as interim head coach for the upcoming tour to the United Arab Emirates, adding a twist to their coaching lineup. Alongside Moneeb Iqbal and Andy McKay, Gilmour is set to oversee the team’s preparations while a permanent replacement for former head coach Shane Burger is being sought after.

The Scottish squad is gearing up for four intense World Cup League 2 fixtures against Canada and UAE, followed by an exciting series of three T20 internationals against the host nation. With anticipation building up, Cricket Scotland assured fans that their hunt for a new head coach is reaching its climax.

Head of performance at Cricket Scotland, Steve Snell expressed his satisfaction with Gilmour leading the charge in UAE. He emphasized the importance of team cohesion considering their last competitive outing dates back to July last year. Working closely with Iqbal and McKay, who have prior experience with the squad, Gilmour has been diligently crafting a training regime ahead of this crucial trip abroad.

A year after Burger’s departure to Somerset County side in England, Doug Watson took on the role of interim coach guiding Scotland through successful campaigns such as T20 World Cup Europe Qualifiers. Richie Berrington has been appointed as captain for Scotland’s Dubai expedition; all eyes are on him as he leads his team into this challenging but thrilling cricketing journey.
