Tom Pidcock Targets Stage Wins at Tour de France 2023, Ineos Includes Egan Bernal in Lineup

    Building on Success

The British cyclist Tom Pidcock will be looking for more success as he aims for stage wins at this year’s Tour de France. Riding with his team, Ineos Grenadiers, he’ll also have Egan Bernal by his side.

Last year saw Pidcock win on the legendary climb up Alpe d’Huez, an achievement that has become one of his lifelong memories. He aims to build upon last year’s success as he continues to progress in his career.

“We’ve got an exciting group of riders, and we’ll be looking to race with intent and be tactically smart,” says Pidcock.

    A Life-Threatening Training Crash

This year’s event will see Colombian rider Egan Bernal take part in a Grand Tour event since suffering a life-threatening training crash last year. The crash left him recovering from surgery on multiple fractures and injuries sustained during the accident.

Returning To His Best Form – An Incredible Journey

Egan won’t let anything stop him though! Making it back onto this year’s tour reassures him that he is well on his way towards returning back into form:

“Being a part of this year’s Tour team reassures me that I’m on my way to returning to my best.”

    Speed and Danger

Pidcock was praised for his speed as he descended from the mountains during last year’s stage 11 win – at times travelling at more than 100kph. However, the dangers of descending at such high speeds will be a big talking point during this year’s Tour.

“We’ll be looking to race with intent and be tactically smart,” says Pidcock.

The death of Swiss rider Gino Mader of Bahrain-Victorious earlier this month has brought safety concerns into sharp focus.

    A Battle For The Title

This year’s event is expected to see either Slovenia’s Tadej Pogacar or Denmark’s Jonas Vingegaard take home the coveted title, but Ineos Grenadiers are hoping Bernal can contend in the general classification too.
