Top Choice: Middle Park Course Emerging as Favorite for Vandeek’s Challenge

Connections Awestruck by Vandeek’s Meteoric Ascent

The racing world is buzzing with anticipation as Vandeek prepares to showcase his exceptional talent in the upcoming Juddmonte Middle Park Stakes in September. This rising star, trained by Simon and Ed Crisford, burst onto the scene with a sensational debut at Nottingham just last month.

Since then, this son of Havana Grey has been on an unstoppable winning streak. From triumphing in the Richmond Stakes at Goodwood to securing Gainsborough Thoroughbreds’ first-ever Group One victory in the Prix Morny at Deauville, Vandeek has proven himself as a force to be reckoned with.

This incredible achievement also marks the second Group One success for his Bahrain-based owners KHK Racing Ltd since Eldar Eldarov’s triumphant St Leger win last season.

Penciled into one of the most prestigious races of the year, taking place on September 30th at Newmarket, Vandeek might face off against potential rivals like River Tiber from Aidan O’Brien’s stable – who finished third in Prix Morny.

“Vandeek has shown remarkable progress throughout his short career,” said Chris Wall, racing manager for KHK Racing Ltd. “In just a matter of weeks, he has gone from winning a maiden race to clinching a coveted Group One title.”

The talented colt also holds an entry for the Darley Dewhurst Stakes on October 14th, back at Newmarket. Observers note that Vandeek’s impressive endurance during the six-furlong races in both Sussex Downs and Deauville suggests he could handle a step up to seven furlongs.

While the timing of this highly acclaimed event does bring it into consideration, the focus for now remains on preparing Vandeek for another triumphant display over six furlongs in the Middle Park Stakes.

“There are two weeks between these races this year, but Vandeek has demonstrated his ability to perform brilliantly within a short span,” Wall commented. “We will take one race at a time, and currently our sights are set on the Middle Park. After that, we’ll assess our options.”

    Knight Aims to Regain Glory

KHK Racing Ltd also boasts Knight amongst their talented lineup trained by Simon and Ed Crisford. This promising colt secured victory in last year’s Horris Hill stakes and is slowly regaining his top form after a challenging start to this season.

Wall revealed that they made the decision to geld Knight due to his behavioral issues earlier in the year which caused significant distress. However, since then, Knight has shown remarkable improvement.

In his recent outing at Group Two Celebration Mile where he finished second behind Angel Bleu, Knight displayed great potential – marking his best performance since an undefeated campaign as a two-year-old.

Moving forward with future plans yet to be finalized, competing at ParisLongchamp during Arc weekend is being considered as one possible option for Knight.

“Knight is getting back on track,” stated Wall optimistically. “After facing some difficulties early on this season and feeling stressed about various factors surrounding him; gelding seems to have done wonders.”

Wall also noted that Knight’s preferred conditions include a bit of cut in the ground, as his best performances have come under such circumstances.

“Simon and Ed are still working out the details,” Wall continued. “We believe a race like the Prix Daniel Wildenstein during Arc weekend could be an ideal fit for him.”

Knight will remain in training as a fun horse to participate in various races, fitting into this category perfectly.
