Top F1 Teams to Conduct Crucial No-Blanket Pirelli Tyre Test in 2024

    The Mystery of Pirelli’s Tyres

As the F1 season heats up, sport news outlets are abuzz with discussions about Pirelli’s tyres. There seems to be a strange mystery surrounding these seemingly innocuous pieces of rubber.

    A Discontinuity in the Rules?

The rules state that blankets will be retained for 2024. However, there are rumours that this may change soon. The decision on whether to abandon them must be made by 31 July, leaving fans and drivers alike in a state of confusion.

    An Unsolved Puzzle for Drivers

Several drivers have tested early prototypes of the blanket-free tyres and voiced their concerns publicly. Lewis Hamilton even called them “dangerous”. This has only added fuel to the fire, further complicating an already confusing issue.

A Step Forward or Another Dead End?

Pirelli believes that next week’s running in Spain will represent a significant step forward towards resolving this enigma once and for all. They plan to test most compounds using new constructions they’ve developed over time.

In addition, they’ll focus on testing different construction methods at various circuits instead of sticking with what worked at Bahrain earlier on this year where temperatures were much higher than other tracks.

“We Need a Construction That Can Help”

“So we need to have a construction that obviously needs good integrity but also works well when pressure is low during start-up,” said Simone Berra- Chief Engineer at Pirelli-. “This structure needs to generate temperature on tyres to allow proper compound work.”

Berra says he’s confident Pirelli will get approval from the FIA should they decide no blankets should be used come 2024.

    A Final Puzzle Piece

It’s hard to say what will happen next. But one thing is certain: the stakes are high, and everyone involved is eager to solve this puzzle once and for all.

For now, fans are left with more questions than answers as they wait patiently for any updates from Pirelli or the FIA on their decision regarding blankets in 2024.
