Lewis O’Brien Joins DC United on Loan from Nottingham Forest

Nottingham Forest midfielder Lewis O’Brien has accepted a loan to Wayne Rooney’s MLS club, DC United, effective until July. The 24-year-old has not seen action since January, after a transfer to Blackburn Rovers fell through due to incomplete paperwork. O’Brien was subsequently left out of Forest’s Premier League roster, leaving him in a state of limbo.

However, as O’Brien is eligible to play overseas, he’s seized the opportunity to join DC United. Forest’s manager, Steve Cooper, believes O’Brien’s time in the MLS will be a positive experience, giving him the chance to stay in form until the end of the season. O’Brien’s addition to the team last summer was part of a wave of new signings as Nottingham Forest geared up for their Premier League campaign.
