Wimbledon qualifiers: Billy Harris and Anna Brogan on the cusp of main tournament entry
Two British Players on Verge of Wimbledon Main Draw
In an eventful day of second qualifying round matches at Wimbledon, two British players find themselves just one win away from securing a place in the main draw. However, it was not all good news for the home crowd as five other hopefuls fell short.
Billy Harris and Anna Brogan Move Closer to Main Draw
Billy Harris, aged 28, fought his way past France’s Hugo Gaston with a thrilling 2-6 7-6 (7-5) 6-4 victory. He now sets his sights on a match against Serbia’s Hamad Medjedovic.
In parallel fashion, Anna Brogan emerged victorious against Russian Diana Shnaider with a commanding performance resulting in a scoreline of 6-3 7-6 (9-7). She is now set to face off against China’s Bai Zhuoxuan.
Disappointing Defeats for Naiktha Bains and Co.
The remaining Britons Naiktha Bains, Charles Broom, Lily Miyazaki, Johannus Monday and Toby Samuel suffered losses today. Despite their best efforts on court Wednesday proved to be an unlucky day for them.
The final qualifying round will take place at the Community Sports Centre in Roehampton on Thursday, just before the main Wimbledon tournament begins on 3 July – all of which will receive extensive coverage across our platform.
