Fury stops Wach in Thailand as Joshua prepares for Saudi return
Tyson Fury secured a seventh-round stoppage of Mariusz Wach in a non-televised bout in Thailand on Friday, completing his second fight in two years. The 37-year-old British heavyweight said he needed the rounds against the Polish veteran after a points win over Arslanbek Makhmudov in April, emphasising the importance of staying active through fight week routines including press conferences, weigh-ins and managing nerves.
Fury immediately turned his attention to Anthony Joshua, who faces Kristian Prenga in Saudi Arabia on Saturday in his first outing since a car crash in Nigeria last December killed two close friends. Speaking after the Wach victory, Fury questioned whether his British rival has the “guts” to face him, referencing Joshua’s decision not to enter the ring after Fury’s Makhmudov win at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in front of 70,000 spectators.
Wembley at 2am among options for potential blockbuster
The former world champion dismissed suggestions he would travel to Jeddah for a face-off this weekend, stating he is heading home to his wife and children after six to seven months away including a 10-week training camp. Fury insisted he is not convinced Joshua will agree to the long-awaited showdown, but added he hopes the next big fight is signed next week with possible venues including Wembley at 2am, Las Vegas, New York, Ireland, London, Belfast or even a return to Pattaya.
