West Ham confirm Summerville departure
West Ham United have finalised the sale of winger Crysencio Summerville to Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal for a fee reported to be worth £60 million. The 24-year-old Netherlands international leaves the London Stadium after two seasons in which he registered eight goals across 56 appearances for the Hammers.
Summerville arrived from Leeds United and produced his best form during a purple patch in January and February when he found the net in five consecutive matches. That run came amid a difficult campaign that ultimately ended with West Ham’s relegation from the Premier League in May.
The Dutchman featured in four matches for his country at the recent World Cup, scoring in group stage fixtures against Japan and Sweden. His departure generates significant revenue for the club following the £85 million sale of midfielder Mateus Fernandes to Tottenham Hotspur earlier in the summer transfer window.
