Auguste Rodin Joins Elite Group in Irish Derby

Dubai Duty Free Irish Derby – Auguste Rodin Faces Eight Rivals

In a highly anticipated showdown at the Curragh this weekend, Auguste Rodin will be facing off against eight formidable rivals in the Dubai Duty Free Irish Derby. This comes after his impressive victory in the Betfred Derby at Epsom just four weeks ago.

Trained by Aidan O’Brien, who is seeking an incredible 15th Irish Derby success, Auguste Rodin aims to achieve a rare double by winning both prestigious races. The last horse to accomplish this feat was Dermot Weld’s Harzand back in 2016.

Ridden by renowned jockey Ryan Moore, it may come as a surprise that he has yet to clinch victory in the Group One contest. However, with his exceptional skills and experience, Moore will undoubtedly be giving his all to secure the win for Auguste Rodin.

O’Brien dominates over half of the field with five runners under his tutelage. Alongside Auguste Rodin are Adelaide River (Epsom eighth), San Antonio (11th at Epsom), Peking Opera (Queen’s Vase seventh), and Covent Garden. With such a strong representation from Ballydoyle stable, O’Brien’s chances of adding another trophy to his collection appear promising.

The race also sees involvement from other notable trainers and jockeys. Joseph O’Brien saddles Up And Under in hopes of securing his second Irish Derby victory as a trainer, following his success with Latrobe in 2018. Meanwhile, Donnacha O’Brien is represented by Proud And Regal.

The field is completed by White Birch, trained by John Joseph Murphy and finishing just over five lengths behind Auguste Rodin at Epsom, as well as Sprewell from the Jessica Harrington stable who has seven lengths to make up.
