Colombia’s Molano Takes Stage Victory in Vuelta a Espana

In an exhilarating sprint finish, Juan Sebastian Molano from Colombia emerged victorious in stage 12 of the Vuelta a Espana. The race leader, American rider Sepp Kuss, managed to maintain his overall position.

Molano, supported brilliantly by his UAE Team Emirates teammate Rui Oliveira, held off Australia’s Kaden Groves at the line to claim the win in this flat 150.6km stage from Olvega to Zaragoza. Dutch cyclist Boy van Poppel secured third place.

Kuss currently leads the general classification with a comfortable margin of 26 seconds over Spain’s Marc Soler. Reigning champion Remco Evenepoel sits third in the GC race, while four-time winner Primoz Roglic clawed back valuable time during an intermediate sprint and now occupies fourth place.

Hugh Carthy is the highest-placed British rider but trails behind Kuss by almost five minutes in 13th position overall.

The next challenge for riders will be a demanding Pyrenees mountain stage that takes them into France and culminates on the iconic Col du Tourmalet.
