Keeneland Phoenix Stakes: River Tiber Leads the Pack

The highly-anticipated Group 1 Keeneland Phoenix Stakes is set to take place at the Curragh on Saturday, and all eyes are on Coventry Stakes winner, River Tiber. With an impressive victory at Royal Ascot under his belt, this son of Wootton Bassett is undoubtedly the star attraction in a lineup consisting of 12 entries.

Aidan O’Brien, renowned for his success in this top-level six-furlong contest with 17 wins already under his belt, has fielded a strong squad of talented colts from Ballydoyle. Alongside River Tiber are five other contenders trained by O’Brien himself – Alabama, His Majesty, Johannes Brahms, The Caribbean and Unquestionable – each prepared to showcase their skills on race day.

In addition to River Tiber’s presence, there are two more notable horses who have tasted victory at Royal Ascot. Valiant Force representing Amo Racing and Adrian Murray’s Norfolk Stakes surprise winner are both vying for another triumph. Donnacha O’Brien also enters the fray with filly Porta Fortuna after her successful run in the Albany Stakes during her last outing.

Jessica Harrington-trained Givemethebeatboys finished fourth in the Coventry Stakes and could potentially challenge River Tiber once again. Meanwhile Diego Dias from County Kildare looks forward to presenting Gaenari following their recent win with Mansa Musa at the Qatar Goodwood Festival.
