Dettori triumphs on Inspiral in an impressive display

Frankie Dettori’s Brilliance Shines as Inspiral Triumphs in Breeders’ Cup Filly & Mare Turf

In a stunning display of skill, jockey Frankie Dettori guided Inspiral to an impressive victory in the highly anticipated Breeders’ Cup Filly & Mare Turf. Trained by John and Thady Gosden, this exceptional filly has consistently showcased her talent under Dettori’s guidance. It seems only fitting that she once again dazzled the crowd at Santa Anita, a place soon to become Dettori’s new home.

Initially positioned towards the rear of mid-division during her first attempt at 10 furlongs, Inspiral demonstrated her versatility as Dettori cleverly maneuvered her for a late surge around the far turn. With breathtaking speed and determination, they crossed the finish line just ahead of Aidan O’Brien’s formidable Warm Heart.

This remarkable win comes after a year filled with speculation about Dettori’s retirement from racing. However, he recently surprised everyone by announcing his decision to continue full-time in California. Furthermore, he expressed his desire to retain his partnership with Inspiral, which could potentially lead him back into European action.

“She’s always slow out of the gate but jumped well this time despite being squeezed on the fence,” said Dettori. “I had hoped to be where William (Buick) was riding With The Moonlight but he beat me there.”
“Inspiral needs some distance before reaching top gear,” explained Dettori confidently. “And I knew she would find it eventually – once she did, there was no stopping her! We chose the Filly & Mare Turf over other options because we felt the Mile would be too short for her.”

Reflecting on this momentous victory, Dettori expressed his gratitude for the overwhelming support he has received. He humbly acknowledged that none of his success would have been possible without exceptional horses like Inspiral.

“The support from everyone has been absolutely phenomenal,” said Dettori with excitement. “But I owe it all to my incredible partner – she is a true star! Today, she proved herself against male competitors and showcased her immense talent in her first race in the States.”
Dettori also shared his hopes of continuing to ride Inspiral next year but admitted that it ultimately depends on the owners’ decision. He added, “It’s a job well done for England and Cheveley Park team, along with John Gosden and Thady.”

Thrilled by their filly’s remarkable performance, trainer John Gosden couldn’t hide his delight: “Inspiral encountered some setbacks earlier this year, including running in challenging conditions at Goodwood. We initially considered entering her into QEII on Champions Day but decided against it.”

Gosden continued praising Inspiral’s resilience and class as he remarked about jockey Ryan Moore’s exceptional ride aboard Warm Heart. Despite Moore’s efforts, Inspiral proved once again why she is an extraordinary athlete.

“I always knew she could handle this distance well,” stated Gosden confidently. “She had all the makings of a potential winner – just needed a bit of luck!”

Gosden further revealed potential plans for next year: “We have several options open; we might consider Lockinge Stakes and Queen Anne or even look towards Juddmonte International and Nassau Stakes. The Juddmonte International could be a key race for her.”

And it seems Dettori’s wish to maintain their partnership will come true as Gosden confirmed, “If Inspiral remains in excellent form next year, we will seriously consider bringing her back to Del Mar and of course, Frankie will be free to ride her once again.”
