Di Giannantonio Secures VR46 Ducati Seat for 2024 MotoGP Campaign

Fabio Di Giannantonio to Join Mooney VR46 Racing Team in MotoGP

The transfer market in MotoGP has seen some surprising twists and turns recently, and the latest development involves Fabio Di Giannantonio joining the esteemed Mooney VR46 Racing Team for the upcoming season.

Di Giannantonio’s future was uncertain after losing his seat at Gresini due to the arrival of Marc Marquez, who made a switch from Honda factory squad after 11 years. There were rumors linking him with a move to Honda as Marquez’s replacement, but those speculations were put to rest when Luca Marini was announced as the new rider for Honda.

This unexpected turn of events opened up an opportunity for Valentino Rossi’s team, which quickly seized it by signing Di Giannantonio for their 2024 lineup. The decision came as a relief for many fans who believed that leaving such a talented rider without a ride would be unacceptable.

Di Giannantonio had an impressive end to last season with a maiden win at Qatar and finishing second in Valencia before being demoted due to a penalty. He concluded his second premier class season in 12th place overall with 151 points.

In Sunday’s press conference, while remaining coy about his future plans, Di Giannantonio hinted that he would be present during Tuesday’s test session:

“Let’s say that if you find a nice-looking guy playing around with a new bike on Tuesday, it could be me.”

Following the official announcement, Di Giannantonio expressed his enthusiasm about joining Mooney VR46 Racing Team:

“I’m happy to join such a strong team as the Mooney VR46 Racing Team. I can learn a lot and I can’t wait to start working together on this project. We have the potential to achieve great things,”

Team director Uccio Salucci also shared his excitement about having Di Giannantonio onboard:

“I am really pleased to announce that Fabio will be part of our team. It was an unexpected arrival, but we are confident in our choice. He has shown great determination throughout difficult moments and I believe he will feel at home here.

Our aim is not only for him to be competitive but also consistent in his results. This marks an ambitious turning point for our team, and we are committed to giving our best efforts in the same direction.”
