Jeriko Du Reponet Shines in Coral Committed To Safer Gambling ‘Introductory’ Hurdle

In a dazzling display of talent, Jeriko Du Reponet has firmly established himself as the frontrunner for the Supreme Novices’ Hurdle after an effortless victory in the Coral Committed To Safer Gambling ‘Introductory’ Hurdle at Newbury.

The young four-year-old, trained by the renowned Nicky Henderson, had been making waves throughout autumn following an impressive showing during a gallops morning at Newbury. And now, he has once again proven his worth with a commanding win over both course and distance on his Rules debut earlier this month.

Returning to Newbury as the overwhelming favorite at odds of 2-5 to solidify his position among tougher competition, Jeriko Du Reponet was put through his paces but ultimately emerged victorious in style.

Jockey James Bowen took over from Nico de Boinville due to injury and expertly kept Officer Of State from Gary Moore’s yard within reach as they navigated their way around Newbury’s track. Maintaining control throughout the race, Jeriko always had that rival covered heading towards home.

As they approached two hurdles remaining, Alan King’s highly-rated flat performer Paradias joined Jeriko at the front of the pack. Hughie Morrison’s Secret Squirrel also remained hot on their heels.

Jumping the final hurdle together, it was Jeriko Du Reponet’s sheer class that propelled him ahead in the sprint to the finish line. He effortlessly pulled away to win by a comfortable one-and-three-quarter-lengths, with Secret Squirrel putting up a strong fight in second place and Paradias settling for third.

Following this impressive victory, Jeriko Du Reponet’s odds were shortened from 7-1 to 5-1 by Coral for the opening race of the highly anticipated Cheltenham Festival. Paddy Power maintained his position as a 6-1 market leader.

Racing TV caught up with jockey James Bowen after the race, who expressed his satisfaction with their performance: “I didn’t want to take the lead on my own as he is still relatively inexperienced. Thankfully, Gary Moore’s horse took charge early on,” Bowen commented.

“We maintained a steady pace but once I urged him forward, he accelerated impressively. I never had any doubts about our victory; he gave me an incredible feeling throughout. He truly is exceptional.”

    Conclusion

Jeriko Du Reponet has solidified his status as an elite hurdler following his dominant display at Newbury’s Coral Committed To Safer Gambling ‘Introductory’ Hurdle. Trained by Nicky Henderson and guided by jockey James Bowen, this young talent has proved himself capable of conquering tougher competition and asserting himself as a clear favorite for future races.
