Emma Raducanu resumes training after surgery, marking her comeback to the court

Emma Raducanu Returns to Practice Court After Surgery

Britain’s rising tennis star Emma Raducanu has made a long-awaited comeback on the practice court following her recovery from wrist and ankle surgeries in May.

The highly-talented 20-year-old shared an exhilarating video on Instagram, showcasing herself hitting balls alongside compatriot Kyle Edmund at the prestigious National Tennis Centre in Roehampton. This marked her first time back on the court since undergoing medical procedures.

Intriguingly, Raducanu captioned the post with anticipation as she said, “August 2nd, the fun part. First time back on court.” Her excitement was palpable as she embarked on this pivotal phase of her rejuvenation journey.

A Triumph Followed by Injury Woes:

Rapidly gaining prominence after clinching a remarkable victory at the US Open in 2021, former world number ten Emma Raducanu faced a series of setbacks due to injuries that have plagued her career progression ever since.

Despite her groundbreaking success on the grand stage, Raducanu has struggled to replicate her triumph in subsequent Grand Slam tournaments. Her journey has been hindered by early exits, failing to advance past the second round.

Since her title win, Raducanu’s performance trajectory has taken an unexpected plunge. Prior to her surgeries, she participated in a mere ten matches during 2023, with a moderate record of five wins and four losses alongside one retirement.

    An Uncertain Return:

Regrettably, Emma Raducanu was forced to miss both the French Open and Wimbledon due to her injuries. As she strives for recovery and prepares herself for future competitions, it seems unlikely that she will regain full fitness in time for the upcoming US Open scheduled to commence on August 28th.

To compound matters further, Raducanu also finds herself without a coach after parting ways with Sebastian Sachs back in June. This adds another layer of uncertainty as she navigates through this critical phase of rehabilitation.
