Entries for the Second Day of Newmarket’s July Festival

Nashwa Supplements for Tattersalls Falmouth Stakes

In a surprising move, Nashwa has been supplemented for Friday’s highly anticipated Tattersalls Falmouth Stakes at Newmarket. Last year, Nashwa proved herself as a dual Group One winner under the guidance of trainers John and Thady Gosden. However, this year she has struggled to find her best form in her two outings so far.

Following a fourth-place finish in the Prix Corrida at Saint-Cloud, Nashwa was dropped back to Group Three level for the Hoppings Fillies’ Stakes at Newcastle last week. Despite being odds-on favorite, she could only manage second place. Nevertheless, owner Imad Al Sagar is showing confidence in her abilities by investing £20,000 to add her to the race.

This decision also involves dropping back from 10 furlongs to a mile distance. John Gosden stated that although Nashwa has been slow to come into form this year, recent races have provided improvement. He believes that participating in the Falmouth will be beneficial for her development and fitness ahead of future races such as the Nassau Stakes.

Potential Double Victory for Via Sistina

Via Sistina may aim for an exceptional achievement by securing a swift Group One double after triumphing in last week’s Pretty Polly Stakes at Curragh under trainer George Boughey’s tutelage. This victory marked Via Sistina’s first top-level success and demonstrated her potential as one of this season’s standout horses.

If all goes according to plan, Via Sistina will compete just 13 days later in the Tattersalls Falmouth Stakes. This will be her third race win of the season, having previously emerged triumphant in the Dahlia Stakes on Newmarket’s Rowley Mile course back in May.

    Other Key Contenders

Ralph Beckett’s Remarquee, recently acquired by Wathnan Racing, is another formidable competitor in the upcoming Falmouth Stakes. After a disappointing performance in the 1000 Guineas, she made an impressive comeback with a second-place finish behind Tahiyra at Royal Ascot’s Coronation Stakes. Aidan O’Brien also has two potential contenders, Meditate and Never Ending Story.

The Gosden team presents Coppice as their second contender after her victory in the Sandringham Stakes. Additionally, Beckett brings Prosperous Voyage to defend last year’s title and bolster his chances of success once again.

Duchess of Cambridge Stakes Promises Thrilling Competition

In other horse racing news, Charlie Appleby’s Star Of Mystery heads a list of eleven contenders for the Duchess of Cambridge Stakes. Having recently claimed victory in a Listed race, Star Of Mystery aims to continue her winning streak against strong competition such as Albany Stakes third-place finisher Soprano.
