Germany witnesses Nations Pride’s triumphant stroll to victory

Nations Pride Adds German Victory to International CV

In a display of sheer dominance, Nations Pride secured an impressive victory in the Grosser Dallmayr-Preis – Bayerisches Zuchtrennen at Munich, further enhancing his growing international reputation. Despite a disappointing debut at two years old, this son of Teofilo quickly made amends with four consecutive wins that earned him a spot in the prestigious Derby last year. While he finished eighth behind Desert Crown on that occasion, trainer Charlie Appleby decided to broaden Nations Pride’s horizons and take on global challenges.

Following a narrow defeat in the Belmont Derby, Nations Pride showcased his true potential by triumphing in both the Saratoga and Aqueduct equivalents during his time in America. He then went on to secure an honorable fifth place finish behind stablemate Rebel’s Romance in the Breeders’ Cup Turf.

The colt started 2023 by participating in Meydan where he claimed victory in the Dubai Millennium Stakes and secured third place against formidable competitor Lord North in the Dubai Turf. However, it was his remarkable return to Europe for the Munich Group One that truly showcased Nations Pride’s prowess.

Jockey William Buick seized control early on and dictated terms from the front aboard this four-year-old sensation. With an impeccable ride, Buick kicked for home upon entering the straight and left all competition trailing behind as they crossed the finishing line unchallenged with a three-length lead.

This triumph marked Appleby’s second win at Munich after Barney Roy’s success back in 2020. Following Nations Pride’s outstanding performance, Appleby hinted at potential future endeavors for this exceptional horse.

“I’m thrilled that he has added another Group One win alongside his Grade One victory at Saratoga,” said Appleby.”With solid performances over a mile and a quarter, Nations Pride has proven himself as an international contender. While there are no immediate targets, we will campaign him internationally during the autumn season.”

Paddy Power responded to this impressive victory by shortening the odds for Nations Pride from 12-1 to 9-1 for the Juddmonte International at York. Additionally, he is now priced at 10-1 for the Cox Plate.
