Highfield Princess Rolls the Dice for Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Stakes

The world of horse racing is a constantly evolving one, with horses and trainers alike always seeking to make their mark on the sport. This weekend’s Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Stakes promises to be no exception, as Malton-based trainer John Quinn prepares his six-year-old mare Highfield Princess for her second shot at glory at the prestigious Royal Ascot.

With three Group One wins under her belt from last season alone, Highfield Princess was widely tipped as a hot favourite for Tuesday’s King’s Stand. However, despite putting in an impressive performance during the race itself, she ultimately lost out to Bradsell after being impeded while delivering her challenge.

Despite this setback, Quinn remains undeterred and believes that there is every chance that his stable star can still come away with a win this Saturday.

“Plenty of horses have run well in both races,” he says confidently. “She seems bright and she’s no travelling to do, which is important.”

    Australian Challenger Artorius Heads Betting

Of course, Highfield Princess will face stiff competition from other contenders in what promises to be an exciting race. Heading up the betting at present is Australian challenger Artorius – who finished ahead of Highfield Princess when they contested together back in 2022.

Anthony and Sam Freedman’s speedster has already won a Group One prize in Australia earlier this year and confidence is high that he can go two places better than 12 months ago on his return to Ascot. “I am confident taking on any of the sprinters in the world,” says Sam Freedman about Artorius’ chances.

    Wellington: Hong Kong Raider

Another major player from overseas is Richard Gibson’s Hong Kong raider Wellington. Although he will be up against stiff competition, his impressive form suggests that he could well be in with a chance of taking the top spot this weekend.

Sacred and Kinross: Home Team Contenders

The home team also boasts some strong contenders for the Jubilee Stakes, including William Haggas-trained Sacred and Ralph Beckett’s Kinross.

While there are questions over whether or not Sacred may be more effective over a longer distance, her owners Cheveley Park Stud are still keen to give her a chance after she finished just one length behind the winner last year.

Kinross enjoyed an excellent run of form last season, winning at the highest level in both France and Britain before finishing third in the Breeders’ Cup Mile. Despite not having been seen competitively since then, many believe that he has what it takes to come out on top this Saturday – especially given his partnership with renowned jockey Frankie Dettori.
