Hukum targets King George after skipping Royal Ascot

Hukum Aims for King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes After Skipping Royal Ascot Due to Fast Ground

Sandown’s Brigadier Gerard winner Hukum, who beat last season’s Derby winner Desert Crown in his return after a year off due to a career-threatening hind-leg fracture, has set his sights on the King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes.

Although he was initially entered into the Hardwicke Stakes at Royal Ascot, trainer Owen Burrows decided to withdraw Hukum from the race due to concerns over fast ground. The decision came after the ground tightened up throughout the week leading up to the event.

The connections of Hukam did not want to risk their horse against last year’s King George hero Pyledriver in case he suffered any injury that could put him out of action again. Instead, they plan on targeting bigger races when conditions are more favourable.

Anmaat Primed for Coral-Eclipse as Mostahdaf Skips Race

Prix d’Ispahan winner Anmaat is being primed for Coral-Eclipse scheduled next Saturday while Prince of Wales’s Stakes hero Mostahdaf will skip it. Although John Gosden said that Mostahdaf is bouncing back fine after his previous win, connections have opted not to run him so soon afterward since they know that this horse performs best fresh.

Meanwhile, promising three-year-old filly Al Asifah struggled during her attempt at Ribblesdale Stakes despite winning her first two starts convincingly earlier this month including a Listed 10-furlong contest at Goodwood but finishing sixth when odds-on favourite here just 11 days later.

    Conclusion

In conclusion, the racing world is abuzz with news of Hukam’s withdrawal from Hardwicke Stakes to avoid risking injury and his subsequent targeting of King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes. Anmaat is being primed for Coral-Eclipse while Mostahdaf will skip it. Al Asifah proved disappointing in her last race but had previously shown promise.
