Introducing David Egan, Amo Racing’s Newly Appointed Rider

David Egan Announced as new Retained Jockey for Amo Racing

In an unexpected turn of events, David Egan has been unveiled as the latest retained jockey for Amo Racing, entering into a two-year contract with Kia Joorabchian’s esteemed racing operation. This announcement follows in the footsteps of Rossa Ryan and Kevin Stott, who previously held this prestigious position.

Amo Racing experienced a breakthrough year in 2023, securing their first-ever victories at Royal Ascot and Group One races. However, since Stott’s departure after the Irish Champions Festival where King Of Steel disappointingly finished fourth to Auguste Rodin, there had been a void to fill on the team. Determined to secure only the finest talent available, Amo opted to bring in a temporary replacement for the remainder of the 2023 campaign by booking none other than Frankie Dettori himself.

The partnership between Dettori and King Of Steel led them to an awe-inspiring performance on British Champions Day under trainer Roger Varian. An unforgettable end to Dettori’s UK career indeed! Now it is David Egan’s chance to step up as Varian’s primary rider and seize this incredible opportunity within Amo’s talented lineup.

“I’m thrilled to announce that David will be our first jockey,” said Kia Joorabchian in an official statement from Amo Racing. “We have established a fantastic relationship over the years and have consistently relied on David’s skills when it comes to our horses.”
“From Mojo Star’s remarkable second place in the Derby to winning races of the highest caliber worldwide, David has proven himself as a talented and ambitious jockey. His experience working closely with Roger Varian has undoubtedly honed his skills and maturity,” added Joorabchian, emphasizing the importance of long-term stability within their organization.

Expressing gratitude towards Roger Varian for his unwavering support, Joorabchian continued, “I would also like to extend my heartfelt thanks to Roger Varian for endorsing this decision. With David on board for the next two years, we are confident that it will contribute significantly to our team’s growth and development.”

David Egan achieved recognition early in his career by becoming champion apprentice in 2017. Since then, he soared to greater heights securing top-level victories such as winning Saudi Cup and Dubai Sheema Classic aboard Mishriff while serving as Prince Faisal’s retained jockey. Notably, Egan claimed his first Classic victory riding Eldar Eldarov trained by Roger Varian in St Leger.

“I’m absolutely delighted to have signed a two-year contract with Amo Racing,” expressed Egan excitedly. He took a moment to acknowledge his gratitude towards trainer Roger and Hanako Varian along with their entire stable team saying, “They have become like family since I started my journey in racing seven years ago.”

    Egan added enthusiastically,
“Embarking on this new challenge fills me with immense excitement, and I cannot wait to be part of the exceptional Amo Racing team.”

This unexpected announcement has left racing enthusiasts buzzing about what lies ahead for both David Egan and Amo Racing. With an impressive track record behind him already at such a young age, there is no doubt that Egan’s partnership with Amo Racing will captivate fans and leave a lasting legacy in the racing world.
