Japan Cup preparations in full swing

Continuous Set for Japan Cup Clash with Equinox

In a thrilling turn of events, St Leger champion Continuous is now on track to face off against Equinox in the upcoming Japan Cup. The three-year-old, trained by Aidan O’Brien, has been making waves since his Classic victory at Doncaster and a commendable fifth-place finish in the prestigious Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe.

Initially slated for a potential appearance at Ascot’s British Champions Day, plans had to be put on hold due to a minor setback. However, Continuous has fully recovered from this obstacle and is ready to take on new challenges ahead.

Aidan O’Brien himself has yet to secure victory in the Japan Cup, but he can rely on stable jockey Ryan Moore’s experience and expertise. Moore was triumphant last year aboard Vela Azul for Kunihiko Watanabe.

“We had intended to enter him in the Champion Stakes,” revealed O’Brien during an interview with Racing TV. “Unfortunately, he developed a slight temperature which required medication. As you know, medicating them means they have to step out of competition.”

“Thankfully though,” O’Brien continued with optimism, “Continuous is back at full strength and already cantering once again. Our plan now is to head towards the highly-anticipated Japan Cup scheduled for November 26.”

The Arc Run – A Testament of Excellence

O’Brien expressed his delight over Continuous’ performance in the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe despite finishing fifth:

“Ryan took his time, as he always does with Continuous. During the race, the pace slowed down slightly in the middle, which affected our progress. However, I must emphasize that Ryan was extremely pleased with Continuous’ performance post-race.

According to O’Brien, Moore believed Continuous ran significantly better than people might think:

“Continuous possesses exceptional ability and a remarkable mindset. He is far more impressive than many believe him to be.”

O’Brien hopes that this upcoming Japan Cup will further prove Continuous’ true potential on an international scale:

“The Japan Cup is a race we have yet to conquer. It requires an outstanding horse for victory; therefore, it would be fantastic if we could showcase our competitiveness there.”

Auguste Rodin Targets Fourth Top-Level Triumph at Breeders’ Cup Turf

In addition to their Japan Cup aspirations, Aidan O’Brien’s stable also harbors hopes of winning another prestigious race – the Breeders’ Cup Turf at Santa Anita.

This time around, their star contender is Auguste Rodin – a talented colt by Deep Impact who has clinched dual Derby victories and most recently emerged victorious in the Irish Champion Stakes at Leopardstown.

O’Brien shared his excitement about Auguste Rodin’s prospects:

“Our plan has always been focused on targeting the Breeders’ Cup Turf,” he confirmed confidently. “Auguste Rodin looks sensational after his well-deserved break from Leopardstown. The rest period has allowed him to mature both physically and mentally.”

The trainer emphasized how challenging it can be for three-year-olds like Auguste Rodin who are pushed into high-stakes competitions early on:

“Training them for the Guineas, then straight to the Derby, followed by another Derby and the King George – it’s a demanding journey for these young horses. Nevertheless, we are extremely pleased with Auguste Rodin’s progress. He has prepared exceptionally well for this event, and we cannot wait to witness his performance.”

Aidan O’Brien and his team approach both upcoming races with great enthusiasm and determination. They believe their talented horses have what it takes to make history in Japan Cup and Breeders’ Cup Turf.
