Spanish Cyclist Jesus Herrada Triumphs in Stage 11 of Vuelta a Espana

Unpredictable Finish Shakes Up the Race

In an exhilarating display of strength and tactical prowess, Spain’s Jesus Herrada claimed victory in stage 11 of the Vuelta a Espana. The Cofidis rider, known for his tenacity, emerged triumphant after an intense battle on the final climb.

Herrada was part of a breakaway group that received support from Ineos Grenadiers’ Filippo Ganna. Initially working to set up fellow teammate Geraint Thomas for success, Ganna found himself unable to respond when Herrada launched his attack, ultimately finishing fifth.

The relentless pace set by Herrada led him to cross the finish line three seconds ahead of Groupama’s rising star Romain Gregoire. Andreas Kron from Lotto Destiny secured third place in this grueling 163.5km race from Lerma to La Laguna Negra.

    Titles within Reach

The general classification contenders completed the stage together but trailed nearly six minutes behind Herrada. Remco Evenepoel’s Soudal-Quick-Step team played a pivotal role by neutralizing much of the final climb, ensuring minimal changes at the top.

Despite facing numerous challenges throughout the race, including chain issues during stage 10’s time trial, Geraint Thomas managed to regain lost ground and move closer to securing a spot among the top ten cyclists. He currently trails Sepp Kuss—the wearer of the coveted red jersey—by seven minutes and thirty-four seconds.
